Insta360 Luna: Modular Vlogging Camera With Telephoto Lens To Challenge DJI Osmo Pocket

Insta360 is reportedly preparing to introduce a new camera called the Luna, aimed at the growing vlogging market and positioned as a direct competitor to the popular DJI Osmo Pocket line. Early information suggests the device may stand out through the inclusion of a telephoto lens and a modular design concept described as a “twist” system, signaling the company’s intention to deliver more than a conventional compact vlogging camera.

Compact, gimbal-stabilized cameras have gained widespread adoption among content creators due to their portability and ease of use; the strong performance of existing pocket-sized cameras has encouraged several brands to explore similar products, expanding competition in this segment. Insta360’s upcoming Luna appears to be part of that trend while also attempting to differentiate itself through hardware innovations and flexible shooting options.

According to preliminary details, the Luna may feature a dual-camera configuration. One of the sensors is expected to be a telephoto module, which could allow creators to capture distant subjects with greater clarity and framing versatility. If released before the next generation of competing devices, it could become one of the first dedicated vlogging cameras to integrate a telephoto lens as a core component rather than an accessory. The device is also rumored to support immersive recording formats consistent with Insta360’s focus on 360-degree imaging technology.

Technical specifications, pricing, and complete feature lists have not yet been disclosed; however, the company’s founder reportedly emphasized during a presentation in China that the Luna is intended to be more than just another pocket camera, hinting at exclusive functions and notable design differences. While no exact launch date has been confirmed, the product is expected to be officially unveiled before the end of June 2026.
